Weighted blankets and toys are used as a form of pressure therapy, to relieve stress, anxiety and to improve sleep. They can also be calming for people with autism, ADHD, as well as people in hospital and aged care settings.

The therapeutic benefits of weighted blankets and toys rely on what’s known as deep pressure stimulation (DPS). DPS promotes your body’s ability to produce serotonin, which helps to regulate mood. It also stimulates the production of melatonin, which regulates sleep. At the same time, the pressure also reduces the stress hormone cortisol.
