What type of things can I purchase from the Calm Store, using my NDIS funding?

This depends on the support budget and goals in your NDIS plan. For instance, you will generally need to have a budget for “consumables” or “assistive technology” to purchase our products.

We have had NDIS customers successfully purchase items across our entire range, including body care, books, aromatherapy, calming jewellery, meditation aids, fidget toys and more. Our products have helped customers manage their anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD or other sensory challenges.

If you are Plan Managed, we can send an invoice to your Plan Manager, for the products you’re hoping to purchase. Your Plan Manager can then decide whether it is appropriate for you to use your NDIS funding for these items.

If you are self-managed, or NDIA managed, you will need to refer to your NDIS plan. Consider whether the items you wish to purchase can be linked to the support budget and goals in your plan and are related to your disability. For advice you can visit the NDIS website (https://www.ndis.gov.au/participants/using-your-plan/self-management#supports-purchasing-guide) or speak to your Local Area Coordinator (search here https://www.ndis.gov.au/contact/locations) or call the NDIS on 1800 800 110.

Note that all items in the Calm Store are considered ‘Low Risk and Low Cost’ (under $1,500), except weighted blankets and compression sheets. These require written advice from an appropriate assessor, such as an OT or physio, confirming the blanket or sheet would be beneficial, and providing instructions on safe use.
